By George G. Hunter III
This book attempts to draw together and systematize what is known about effective apostolic ministry to secular people in the West. The introduction summarizes the history of the "secularization process" that brought the Christian movement to its new challenge in the countries of the western world. The first chapter presents a profile of the "secular people" that secularization has produced, and the second chapter features some of the known themes and strategies for reaching people who fit the profile. The third chapter is the "heaviest" chapter, but worth the trip! It unpacks communication principles and models that can help communicators and churches more effectively engage secular people. The fourth and fifth chapters profile the type of Christians and the type of churches that help searching secular people find their way into Christian faint. Both profiles feature characteristics of Christians and churches that can be rehearsed and emulated; we and our churches can become more like them!
